Bangkok, yay!
Thursday, March 31, 2011 @ 3:45 AM
Heavily overdued! But on the 15-19 March, my family and I plus Jean packed our bags and headed to the Land of Smiles for a relaxing holiday! Doing an actual trip report is mind-boggling so just gonna keep everything short but good enough as a keepsake for me.

Smiley tag so we could spot our stuff easily!

Up in the air! There's something comforting about being high up in the clouds with the reality a loooooooong way beneath your feet.

Arriving in Bangkok! Whee.
And over the next couple of days...lots of food, shopping (we didn't buy much, HONEST!) and massages my family enjoyed. I'm too stiff. Meh.

Cheap food. Like really cheap. 40cents per box cheap!! Fatland galore!!

SGD$10 shoes. Very pretty ones that I won't wear.

A shop my sister loved. Hahahah for all the kids and the kids at heart.

Cheap Japanese pastas! Not so nice but cheaaaap.

Congealing mess of pasta.

Dim sum buffet at the hotel we stayed at! About SGD$16 each.

And yummy dessert.

Room service - just because. Hehe.

Dad trying to be cute.

Ate this for supper 2 nights in a row cause it was sooooo good. Teochew noodles! And they had the best horlicks drink ever. Thought it was milo at first.

Totally complemented the cold night air!

Went for toast after one night's dinner. I think we all put on about 5kg during the trip. :(

The street stalls are all by the roadside and are only set up in front of the shops after they have closed. So basically the stallowners are only doing business for a couple of hours every night - pretty hardworking! Plus they dismantle the entire makeshift stall after they close each night so that they won't be blocking the operating stores when they open in the morning. Pretty neat huh!

Super cute dog in one of the shops along Chinatown!! Bkk really had a lot of cute dogs. Like this one:

Squeeeeeeee! It doesn't even bark or move just stands there in front of a shop looking cute. Great luring strategy!

Feeling fyeahskinny for once. And this place was where they sold wholesale clothes dirt cheaaaaap. Should. Have. Bought. More.

And this was our forlorn look on the last day before heading for the airport. Very...ugly la.
In all, it was a reallyyyy good trip and it was fun having Jean along! Thanks for being such good company too. And seriously I don't care how overrated Bkk is that's the fun part!! The cheap everything I feel like I'm living as a queen there. Plus when you know a place well it makes you feel good. No need for tours or anything.
Oh and Jean, the random dancer you took a photo with!

When I got back, SL and I also helped photograph Cher's LRM prom. Or well, mostly SL who photographed it cos my cam totally died after the opening ceremony. Sigh. But it was great and I'm glad it turned out well and everyone had a good time. It was really nice seeing everyone dress up and enjoy their last official night together as a batch. Hopefully we get to experience something...similar.
The holidays have been extremely fufilling to me so far. Well, best recharge before a full 6months of work ahead I'd say.
Till next time! ^^
Live like we're dying
Saturday, March 26, 2011 @ 2:38 AM
We only got 86 400 seconds in a day to
Turn it all around or to throw it all away
We gotta tell 'em that we love 'em while we got the chance to say
Gotta live like we're dying
And if your plane fell out of the skies
Who would you call with your last goodbye?
Should be so careful who we left out of our lives
And when we long for absolution, there will be no one on the line

My mum acknowledged that the world is gonna end soon. There are so many things I have yet to experience but what come may, I am glad to have owned and experienced everything thus far.
Describe Yourself
Friday, March 25, 2011 @ 1:35 AM
Mhmm this is a very long post about myself.
Today, a couple of my friends were discussing questions they get asked during SIP interviews and apparently, the first thing most of us get asked is to describe ourselves.
So that kind of got me thinking, what kind of person am I really? What kind of firsthand impression do I give people and is it the same one that stuck with them till now? What are the things I like, the things I don't like, and the hobbies I enjoy?
If I were asked again to describe myself again...hmm. Tough without sounding generically like a self-obsessed robot.
I think I am generally the kind of person who enjoys the quiet side of life a whee bit more. Do feel I am somewhat introverted too. Which I guess is rather contradictory to my rockstar dreams. Plus the fact that I am in a media course where most people seek a place in the spotlight. But at the end of the day I really love just being in the comfort of my room watching YouTube/reading. I love occasional huge, loud gatherings but prefer chillout Saturday weekends with two or three of my best mates sharing our innermost thoughts. But I have secrets - like everyone. And I am still learning how to trust.
I love writing, something I hope is evident enough. But with a love for writing also comes a lusting for a job that would hone and shape it - which is utterly fine if not for the sombre fact that you also meet with all these insecurities about meeting industry
standards and also what the people want to see. Recently, I had thoughts about whether this is really gonna be the path for me, considering the fact that I had never seriously thought of other options before. But then yesterday I browsed through a ton of old and new magazines, looked at the development over the years and I got reminded of why I fought so hard to come into CMM for. This is what I want to do and this is what I will work toward from now on. To one day be stressed out by deadlines and be entangled in papers, a whole lot of photos, snooty and nice models, tantalising layouts and crisp fashion. I also envision myself having a whole trilogy of my own someday. Something sci-fi and action packed.
On the lighthearted end of this whole Me thing, I think I am just like any regular girl. I love blowing my allowance the first day I get it on things my mother never wants me to waste money on (Shopping, magazines, too much junk food). I have a relatively messy room I try to keep personal with photos on the wall and a smattering of nonsense across my desk. Occasionally I attempt to dress up my room to be Tumblr-worthy and have all these
attempts at arranging rings in a box only to have them messed up again the next day. Attempt. Am a total chick flick junkie but I love googling after mind-blowing movies just to read reviews by people. Yeah and I really like spoiling plots by reading in-depth descriptive ones if I am reading before watching the film. Love drawing, all things Apple, useless pretty notebooks...
I am still caught in between the perception of whether I am an realist or idealist. Sometimes I think I lean toward a side a bit more, but these days I am guessing I'm more realist than anything. I haven't gone through enough in life to be a 100% grounded yet though, and having dreams are always gonna be important to me - even if they are never really fufilled. They keep me going and always give me an aim to reach for something beyond the stars.
And welllll...if you ask me whether I am satisfied with myself as a person. I think I pretty much am. Have a whole lot to work on and my deadset self-hating days but if we were all cookie-cutter perfect it wouldn't be as self-enriching, right? Not just saying that because I aren't though.
Bye folks, haha can't believe you read through this. Loveeee xxx.
P/S: I'm working on my Bangkok post. Something about blogging about a trip isn't as fun as being there :(
I'm home! ^^

Back! Sigh honestly everything felt like it happened wayyy too fast. Can't wait to go back again. The trip was surprisingly cold all four days we were there, below 20degrees! Supposedly because of a storm in China. But well, I rather cold days than hot ones! It was also a pretty cool experience having Jean on a family trip and I hope she really had fun :) All that eating, shopping (Albeit we could have done more but...WE ARE NOT GONNA HAVE REGRETS NOW!) and lazing around watching MTV hits on TV (AKA What The Hell on repeat) while on the most relaxing hotel bed ever...
Wll update with pictures tomorrow when I'm not such a sloth. :P
Bon Voyage

Excited
Saturday, March 12, 2011 @ 3:45 AM
Honestly can't wait to go through the motions of being excited with my family at the airport and then going through loads of mindless talk this Tuesday. ^^
Hair
Thursday, March 10, 2011 @ 11:27 PM

Sometimes I wish my hair would behave itself and not get itself in a fix every day. Whether I blowdry it or towel dry it - it still seems to have a mind of its own and goes in all directions except the one I want it to.
But at least it's growing longer.
Tribute to my iPhone
Wednesday, March 09, 2011 @ 8:53 PM
After abusing my iPhone subconsciously for (close to) the past one year I have owned it, I realised what a fail phone owner I am for its condition. The ruined button is one thing but whoa the cracked back case and all...Heh. So sorry dear phone, for when I trade you for the new iPhone a few months down the road. I would honestly, honestly get a Blackberry (My mum called it a Blueberry again today) but I'm completely sold to Apple and their huge viewing screens for me to watch videos over and over again. Plus, really handy for me to watch shows till I fall asleep at night.
So no one shall ask me to get a BB until Apple disowns me! Or I'm going back to Nokia or something.
While we're on the topic, here is a tribute to you dear iPhone - some photos over the past 11 months you have been with me! You have, no doubt, been the most useful gadget I've owned besides your sister, my iPod. Whom has seen her fair share of beat-up days.

Sometime in the later half of 2010 when Mel, Jean and I hosted for the Maritime. Good experience, fantastic views...although I didn't get to explore like the rest did. :(

Broadcasting with Jean! One of the electives we enjoyed the most, just simply memorising our scripts and working on our presence in front of the camera. Pretty much learned quite a bit from this module and I never regretted taking it over film.

My favourite food from Marche - Rosetti with sour cream! It's the one food I always have to eat at Marche.

Random snaps of self.

Random snaps with friends. SGD$2 caps omg.

Radio module. It was a hard choice between this and Multicam but I'll say Radio was my favourite for the semester. Going through it was tough but you know what they say - the one that pushes you the most gets you the most satisfied in the end.

Shocking.

Happy CNY 2011! Sister looking innocent between a fake plant. Lol.

Julia's favourite food.

Best thing about 2011 so far?

A handsome boy.
I'm blogging a lot more these days out of pure want. Improvement!!
