Time seems to have taken a standstill
Saturday, April 30, 2011 @ 3:35 AM

Hi!

Cheers to another long weekend ahead! This week has been pretty eventful at work and though I am still learning everyday (sometimes the hard way), I can safely say that I am really grateful for all the people I have been meeting in such a short span of time. I could have met just about anyone of any personality but thank God I was blessed with the good end of the spectrum!

Been plagued with thoughts for sometime and the thing that has been constantly at the back of my mind is how my life has somewhat taken a standstill from the 'real' world I live in. This world being school, seeing people I am accustomed to every week and having heaps of time for myself. This kind of made me realise how just so incredibly sheltered I have been in my entire life so far. How entirely absorbed in my own bubble I have been. But perhaps that is the case for a lot of others out there too.

It's not that I do not realise the reality of adulthood that looms ahead - it's just how it has not quite sunk in yet. Right now I just keep counting down the days till I get to go back to TP and just be a student again. As much as we complain, I know deep down we are all way too comfortable being taken care of. But soon we won't have this option anymore because we are meant to one day be integrated into actual reality and not the 'real' world we keep going back in.

So maybe it's time to stop kidding around, stop bothering about trivial issues and enjoy the time that youth has given us. Plus at the same time, make some mental goals. Have some vision. Get yourself more equipped with information and skills ahead of our generation. Ultimately, it's important to be aware that we want to grow up as someone regarded as more than just the average Joe.

All that aside, I am STILL gonna enjoy my life right now and tomorrow's gonna be awesome all thanks to Mel! Woohoo beach partyyyyyyyyyy.

SLEEPING IN LIKE A PIG TOMORROW BECAUSE I CAN! Well, till tuition anyway. Meh.

Tightly knitted

It's easy to say my priorities in life are my family and my friends - but I've never felt that statement as strongly as in the past couple of months. Somehow, I hope they feel the same way. I would never, ever do without either and thank you guys so much for being not a huge part - but my entire life.

Into my second week of internship! The hours seem to pass by quicker now that I have more or less started on my real tasks. Grateful for the interns sitting beside me too - 'cept I know they are not gonna stay for long. But that's life - ever changing. Caught Norwegian Wood a second time today with Keith & Mich, felt a whole lot slower the second time round, but I really did appreciate the film. Except the book (of course) gave a lot more depth and feeling. Still, it wasn't too bad overall! Worth a watch, for the fans of the book and for people who like beautifully crafted Japanese movies!

Off to bed & it's yet another day ahead. Toodlesssss.

Refreshed

After a long week at work (OK it was a short week since it was 4 days but it felt looooong), this amazing weekend is well-deserved and I finally unwinded today heading to DblO with Cher & some poly mates for the K'raze party. And seriously I have a new crush on DJ Masa!!! He's so friggin cute in person, has some pretty sleek moves & was superbly friendly. Wish he played more mashups than mixes though hehe. still, loved how it was an entire night of Kpop!

COULD HAVE BEEN THE CUTEST SHOT IN THE WORLD! A pity the camera had to conk up at that one second..

With internship having started, sometimes I think I need to build up a lot more courage to do things at work. A lot more things - so I can go places. I know the reactions I get sometimes dampen my spirits but I just believe I am more than that - so I've got to give myself more credit than I already am. Confidence is key! Ugh. There comes a point where things always feel too tough but I just gotta tell myself to look at the end result. Also, I need to stop overthinking and playing out scenarios in my head, uncessary stress Rach! I don't wanna tell myself this is tough because it's just the start! Plus, I need loads of self-motivation for the months ahead.

I know I can do this. It's just the beginning. Plus I totally need to get my priorities together and stop doing some things I do. Like false hope. Throwing it out of the window.

But for sure, school is SO MUCH BETTER. Be good kids, go to school and enjoy it.

On a happier note, these were the awesome nails Mel and I got together last Thursday at Far East:

A pity mine is already starting to look awful. Oh well, new manicure coming up!

P/S Much love to my bff Cher haha for always giving me clothes for NOTHING. You're too nice seriously please save $$$ for yourself!!

P/P/S Also a self-reminder to save money for MYSELF too omg.

Ahhhhhhhh

Just taking everything one day at a time now! So far, so good I guess. But I kind of miss having a life, just three days into this. Hahah oh well, I'll live.

Will update when the weekend hits, yay!

Embrace the moment
Sunday, April 17, 2011 @ 1:33 AM

This is the last night to stay up for a long time to come - embracing it with the latest Running Man episode, admiring my painted nails and finishing book #1 of The Hunger Games trilogy.

It's still kind of scary how fast 2011 is gonna pass with internship taking up a good 6 months till September. In fact, I probably won't even register the fact when the time comes. Gonna sleep seriously early tomorrow! May the first day be the start of a zillion good days to come.

And right now, I hope issues at home will solve themselves.

Happy 19th Birthday to Ting Chow!

Woke up to Julia's (for the first time in history!!) phonecall on Thurs demanding I get up in time for Alicia's somewhat surprise birthday brunch at PS. Cafe. Some hustle and bustle and animated waiting for the princess in a cab...and we arrived!

The place was honestly gorgeous! Have only heard of it but never actually visited the branch. And the one we went to, which was located at Harding Road, was seriously beautiful. Props to you Jules, for picking the location hehe.

And I also thank life after my D90 for the pictures!

At this point the sun came out from behind the clouds suddenly and I insisted on snapping a shot cos everything looked so well lit in the sunlight!

Jules' fail shot of mine. -.-

Crazily expensive bill..but well worth! We were stuffed! Too stuffed for the desserts. And they were a seriously tempting lot...look!

Photobucket

All of them looked too good...Alicia and I were particularly amazed at this mountain of a chocolate cake. It looked like two huge slices stacked on top of each other! And there was another one topped entirely with marshmallows.

I swear they really need to thank me for all the pretty shots I took of them!!

It's kinda strange how people we meet early in our lives only come back to us much later to become a good friend. But it's a really awesome thing nonetheless. Alicia, you are a realllllly pretty, sweet person from our YCKPS days till now, yknow! Hope you really enjoyed your birthday lunch <3 Happy birthday once again sweetie!

xx

P/S Did my nails today on an impromptu session with Mel today!! Teenage Dream with Black Shatter from the Katy Perry range. I heard the nails don't always crack pretty, so I'm glad ours are fine! Ok granted Mel had to do hers twice!

Life as we know it
Saturday, April 09, 2011 @ 11:04 PM

Just a week more to SIP! Omgosh.

Accompanied Cher to Sim Lim today to look for her silicon BB cover and I don't know why everyone thinks that place is Godsent because we couldn't find shit.

Ate lunch at Nex's Barcelo's Chicken...which was so damn good! Highlight of our day.

Haha taking this when I went to the toilet so she looks like she's eating alone.

And we also stopped by TP's Design Fair at Vivocity. TP design students are superrrrrbly talented. All the photos taken by the VC students make my photog assignments look really...gross.

I'm glad our workplaces are close to each other's so we can meet for more (fat) dinners! Don't know what I'd do without you hehe.

Patiently waiting for dinner to reach home now. It's 11:03 PM and I'm starving! :(
